Coney Island

It’s Brooklyn. But with Beaches.

Fourth of July at Coney Island exemplifies the phrase : We are all Americans. First named by the Lenape, then by the Dutch, who dubbed it “Rabbit Island” (a translation of “Conyne Eylandt”), this beloved playground for young and old still pays respect to NYC in all its diverse glory. Just try keeping track of all the languages spoken here. Then, there’s Nathan’s, the Boardwalk, street art, a day-long dance party, that glorious Wonder Wheel, and a long stretch of densely populated beach…It’s a New York institution in every aspect.
